JUDGES LIST CRITERIA – 2023

1. A1 LIST
For people who have previously been approved by the Kennel Club to award CC’s in the breed, have completed their first appointment and have the support of The Great Dane Breed Council. (KC Policy)

2. A2 LIST
For people who fulfill all the requirements for the A3 List who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and accepted by the Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 List and have the support of The GreatDane Breed Council.  (KC Policy)

A3 LIST (Breed Specialists)
Requirements include:-

  1. Minimum of 7 years judging experience in the breed and have the support of The Great Dane Breed Council.  (KC Policy)
  2. To have judged a Breed Club Open or Limited Show (excluding Stakes/Special Awards Classes)
  3. To have judged a minimum of 50 classes in this breed
  4. To have judged a minimum of 120 dogs. (KC Policy – number optional)
  5. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures. (KC Policy as of 1.7.2001)
  6. To have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement.  (KC Policy as of 1.7.2001)
  7. To have of the Dog attended a Points of a Dog Assessment conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment.  (KC Policy as of 1.7.2005)
  8. To have attended at least one Breed Specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.  (KC Policy as of 1.7.2001)
  9. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book (save in exceptional circumstances);  (KC Policy)
  10. To have stewarded at 12 shows.  (KC Policy)

A3 List (Non – Breed Specialists)
Requirements include:-

  1. Minimum of 7 years judging experience in any one breed (to include 5 years in this breed) and have the support of The Great Dane Breed Council.  (KC Policy)
  2. To have judged a Breed Club Open or Limited Show (excluding Stakes/Special Award Classes)
  3. To have judged a minimum of 50 classes in this breed.
  4. To have judged a minimum of 120 dogs in this breed; (KC Policy – Number optional by Club)
  5. To have awarded CC’s in at least one other breed. (KC Policy)
  6. Have attended at least one Breed Specific judging seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club code of Best Practice and passed an examination and all other requirements of The Kennel Club.
  7. To have bred and/or owned a minimum of three dogs of any breed when they obtained their 1st entry in The Kennel Club Stud Book (save in exceptional circumstances)

B List (Breed Specialists)

  1. To have 7 years experience owning and exhibiting in this breed and to have the support of The Great Dane Breed Council
  2. To have judged a minimum of 20 classes in this breed at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CC’s.
  3. To have judged a minimum of 27 dogs of this breed
  4. To have attended at least one appropriate Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

B List (Non – Breed Specialists)

  1. Minimum of 7 years judging experience in any one breed and have the support of The Great Dane Breed Council
  2. To have judged a minimum of 20 classes of this breed at Open Shows or Championship Shows without CC’s (save in exceptional circumstances)
  3. To have judged a minimum of 27 dogs of this breed
  4. To have attended at least one appropriate Breed Specific Seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and /or assessment where applicable.

C List (Breed Specialists)
For aspiring judges who have been active in the breed for a minimum of 5 years and have the support of The Great Dane Breed Council.

C List (Non – Specialists)
For aspiring judges who have shown an interest in the breed and have the support of The Great Dane Breed Council and have a minimum of 5 years experience in another Breed.

NOTE
Inclusion on the Breed Councils Judges Lists is subject to the following:
(a) Provision of proof of attendance and passing examinations / assessments of the required Seminars. This applies to the A2, A3 and B Lists for both Breed Specialists and Non -Specialists.
